Relevance. Few people actually know who you really are when you got to campus during your first year. What is one new thing you’ve learned about yourself that demonstrates how your social background has helped shape the person you are today? In the last week, I discovered what might just be the most important aspect I’ve learned about myself as a writer until now. Bosses want employees who tackle problems with enthusiasm and grit rather than complaining and breaking down every time they get tripped up by an obstacle. There are many great things about co-op; the experience, building your portfolio, networking… But after these four months working as a Communications and Marketing Specialist at WorkBC Employment Services in Cloverdale, I have discovered so many things about myself that I could only have found out by participating in the Co-op program. Even if no one listens to what I have to say, at least I have said my piece. Everyone’s got to start somewhere.
